Speaker's Bio


Layal Mansour holds a Ph.D in Macroeconomics from University Lumière Lyon 2-France, specialized in monetary and financial economics in dollarized, emerging and developing countries. She also accomplished one year of Post doctorate research in Financial Economics at the American University of Beirut.
Her research papers are focused on monetary policy, exchange rate, dollarization, financial crises, geopolitical risks and time series analysis and they are published in reputable academic journals. Her papers were presented in several international conferences such as the American Economic Association (ASSA), the Western Economic Association International (WEAI), the World Bank MENA seminar series in Washington DC-USA, the UN-ESCWA-Lebanon and others.
Layal Mansour was the leader to construct a financial stress index for Lebanon in 2018 that reveals all hidden information about the Lebanese financial market such as the banking sector, the stock market, and the exchange rate & debt markets. She constructed for Turkey as well as for Lebanon the financial stress index that includes dollarization rate/
She is currently teaching economics at the Lebanese American University in Beirut-Lebanon (AACSB University) and the University Saint Joseph, and she is a Guest Speaker at George Washington University-USA, every Summer since 2016. Prior to that, from 2009 to 2011, she taught several courses in economics at University Lyon 1, University Lyon 2, and University Lyon 3- France.
Besides her teaching experience, she served as an economic advisor/consultant to international organizations and research centers.
