Electricity in Lebanon is in a critical situation, however, many potential solutions could be available.

- Long term outlook for the sector in light of the global energy transition

Speaker's Bio

Carol Ayat is an investment banker and energy finance expert. She founded and currently heads the energy finance department at Bank Audi, whose mission is to fund private sector energy projects in the bank’s countries of operations notably: Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt. In Lebanon, the department’s work also includes action-oriented policy research on matters related to electricity sector reform, strengthening the role of the private sector and identifying viable pathways to accelerate Lebanon’s transition to a sustainable energy future.
Before returning to Lebanon, Carol worked with Goldman Sachs in New York, London and Dubai in the financing group where she closed transactions in excess of $24 billion in infrastructure, industrial sector and structured finance.
Carol holds a Masters degree in Financial Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the American University of Beirut. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
