In this session we will host a Psychiatrist & a Lawyer to discuss Criminal Psychology & the death penalty dilemma.


In the first part we will talk about Criminal Psychology to discuss:

- Understanding criminal psychology & personality pathology

- Potential warning signs of future violence

- Interface between forensic psychiatry and the law

In the second part, we will tackle the death penalty:

- What is the Death penalty law in Lebanon 

- Quick history on the death penalty in Lebanon with numbers

- Current situation on the death penalty and the dilemma to apply it

Speakers' Bio

Dr Elias Ghossoub - Adult & Forensic Psychiatry

Elias Ghossoub, MD, MSc, earned his degree of Doctor of Medicine at Saint Joseph University of Beirut in 2011. He then went on to complete his residency in psychiatry at the American University of Beirut in 2017. In 2019, he completed his fellowship training in forensic psychiatry at Saint Louis University, Missouri. Dr. Ghossoub is currently Assistant Professor of Clinical Specialty and Director of the Psychiatry Residency Training Program at the Department of Psychiatry of the American University of Beirut. Dr. Ghossoub published multiple scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at several regional and international meetings. In 2018, he received the Young Investigator Award at the 49th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.

Elie Klimos - Attorney at Law &Legal Consultant
